Vegan Disneyland: My Comprehensive Guide

It happened. Today. I took my very last class of my graduate school career. I graduate with a masters degree in Public Policy next weekend. YAAAAAAAY!!! … and *tear* I’ll miss school and my friends … but my graduate school emotions are for an entirely different blog. So, why is my completion of grad school relevant to TheVeryNewVegan?

Because I celebrated at Disneyland!!!!!! (ok I kinda celebrated early) My fiancée also completed school three weeks before me, I was desperately in need of an escape from my masters thesis and he deserved a celebration for his accomplishment. Thus, Disneyland.

Prior to our trip, I browsed around online to see if I could find any vegan Disneyland guides or accounts on other blogs of vegans who went and successfully ate at D-Land. I found a few things but primarily bloggers only documented where they ate. I’m no Disneyland expert so I was unsure of where to find these restaurants, if they still existed, if the menu was the same… I knew I’d be fine in Disneyland (I mean they surely accommodate food allergies right?) and I was. An enjoyable time was had by all and I found plenty of (surprisingly) delicious things to eat.

However, my good time and semi-resourcefulness does not address the problem of no Vegan Disneyland Restaurant Guide to be found!! So by-veggie-god I’m making one!!! This is the first of a 3-part blog, in this post I will discuss vegan options in Disneyland Park. Part 2 will discuss vegan options in Disney’s California Adventure Park. Finally, part 3 will cover the Downtown Disney District.

Without further adieu…

The Unofficial Comprehensive Guide to Vegan Disneyland — UPDATED!

The Blue Bayou

Location: Adventureland, right next to The Pirates of the Caribbean Ride

Vegan Options: Portobello Mushroom and Couscous Macque Choux – Portobello mushrooms stacked and marinated in balsamic vinaigrette. Served with roasted corn and bell pepper couscous and sautéed spinach

Price: $29.99

Notes: The Blue Bayou is considered on of Disneyland’s fine dining establishments, if you’ve never been, I recommend it. You sit inside the entry to the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride and the ambiance alone is quite an experience.

If you want to drop some coin for a special dinner, this is the place to do it. FYI the rest of the fine dining restaurants in the Disneyland Resorts do not offer vegan options. Some don’t even offer vegetarian. Poo.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bengal Barbecue
Location: Adventureland, across from Indiana Jones the Ride
Vegan Options: Outback Vegetable Skewer – It is what it says it is…grilled veggies on a stick 🙂
Price: $3.79
Additional Vegan Sides: Chips $2.99, Fruit Cup $3.69
Notes: I didn’t try these myself while I was at D-Land although I was aware of their existence. If you’re looking to keep horrendous Disneyland expenses down, this is the place you wanna eat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

French Market

Location: New Orleans Square, between Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion ride. Restaurant faces (formerly) “Tom Sawyer’s Island”, (now) “Pirate’s Cove”

Vegan Options: Garden Salad – Lettuce, Carrots, Tomatoes, choice of dressing

Price: $3.99

Notes: I hesitated to include this restaurant because it offers only a wee garden salad, however I really wanted to make a distinction between restaurants who had even one item from restaurants that literally have nothing for vegans. So, I’m not sure if anyone is going to rush to the French Market Restaurant to get a teeny garden salad but if you’ve got a hankerin’ for lettuce, by all means…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harbour Galley
Location: Critter Country, by Splash Mountain
Vegan Options: Vegetarian Chili
Price: $9.29
Additional Vegan Sides: Fresh Fruit $3.49
Notes: Again, I didn’t eat here personally. As a cautionary measure you might want to advise the person taking your order that you do not want cheese. I don’t have any evidence that they put cheese on the chili, but you never know. It’s chili. Your server may suffer from an uncontrollable desire to sprinkle cheese shreds on your v-chili and ruin your life…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hungry Bear Restaurant

Location: Critter County, by Splash Mountain

Vegan Options: Big Al’s Chicken Salad (Note: Website says “Vegetarian Option Also Available”) I assume you may order this salad without chicken – Smoked chicken on top of romaine and iceberg lettuce with watermelon, candied pecans, dried cherries, pickled red onions, and honey-lime vinaigrette

Price: $8.99

Additional Vegan Sides: Sweet Potato Fries $2.79, Onion Rings $3.49

Notes: Check with your server about the type of oil they are frying the fries in. Also ask if the onion ring batter has dairy in it. Disney employees are trained about food allergies, I actually saw a big 3-Ring binder labeled “Food Allergies: Dairy, Soy, Nut…” etc. They should be able to answer any questions about food items which contain dairy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe
Location: Main Street USA Disneyland, upon entering Disneyland you will be walking up Main Street towards the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle. Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe is on your left, near the entrance to Adventureland.
Vegan Options: Grilled Vegetable & Whole Grain Salad – Seasonal Vegetables and Mixed Greens with Barley, Spelt and a Basil vinaigrette
Price: $7.99
Additional Vegan Sides: Soy Milk, if you are looking for a soy latte, this is the place.
Notes: It was surprisingly difficult to find a coffee joint that had soy milk. I mean honestly, I was surprised. Soy milk is on its way to surpassing dairy milk sales (someday people, its gonna happen). There’s plenty of little coffee carts and restaurants that sell coffee, I mean, they have to… have mercy on the parents of small children at Disneyland. However, none of these offered soy milk/soy lattes/coffee with soy/no. No soy for you. I’ll just torture you with the promise of coffee … let me just dangle the coffee in front of your face like a cat toy … Oh what’s that? You don’t like black coffee and you don’t like the exploitation of mother cows? Sorry!
Ok, I’m being a little dramatic here, no one said anything like that. Every Disneyland employee I encountered was a picture of professionalism and hospitality. Seriously, everyone is really nice at Disneyland. I was just bitter because I couldn’t find a coffee place with soy until I found the Jolly Holiday!
Secret super fun tip… On weekends nights, at the Carnation Plaza (directly next to the Jolly Holiday) a 1940s/50s live band plays host to an out-door swing dance party. Anyone can dance, there are professional and semi-professional couples who dance and single Disney employees who will help you get out there and make you feel like you’ve been taking swing classes all along. Even if you really don’t want to dance, it’s such a cool event. There are lots of people who just stand around and watch the dancers and listen to the band.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Plaza Inn

Location: Main Street USA

Vegan Options: Garden Salad – Lettuce, Carrots, Tomatoes, choice of dressing;

Thank you to Ksh77 who commented and said that the chefs at the Plaza in and Disneyland Resort can make the gluten-free Mickey Pancakes or Waffles vegan upon request. Let me know if you request this and if they made it for you!

Price: $3.99

Notes: Same as the French Market, nothing here but little salad cups, but there salad cups are here so it gets counted.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
River Belle Terrace
Location: Adventureland, across from The Jungle Cruise ride & Indiana Jones ride
Vegan Options: Vegetable Po’ Boy – with Southern Baked Beans and choice of additional cold side dish — Heads up! The baked beans are made with lard. Ask for a different side dish!
Price: $11.99
Vegan Breakfast Options: Becky Thatcher’s Fresh Fruit Plate – *I ate this* A very generous platter of fruit including, strawberries, grapes, melon, honeydew, & kiwi.
Price: $7.99
Notes: I am making the assumption that since the menu description does not mention cheese, that there will be no cheese present on the Vegetable Po’ Boy. Ask. There is also no information on the vegetarian status of the baked beans. Ask. I’m not trying to lead anyone down the path to a *gasp* non-Vegan sandwich. The information available to me, I am passing on to you. Worst possible outcome: You ask and find out the sandwich isn’t vegan, but you’ve let them know there is a demand. The word “vegan” came out of your mouth, and I think that’s a good thing.
Vegan breakfast at Disneyland…it’s pretty much nonexistent, which is pretty much the story everywhere. Vegan + Breakfast + Restaurant = No
The fruit platter at the River Belle Terrace  was the only vegan breakfast I found during the entire duration of my stay at DLand. A word to the wise… bring some Luna Bars.
Thank you Erin for commenting and letting us know about the lard in the beans!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Royal Street Veranda

Location: Directly above Pirates of the Caribbean ride

Vegan Options: Vegetarian Gumbo – *I ate this*  This is my absolute favorite vegan offering at Disneyland. It’s a delicious Louisiana style gumbo with rice, onion, okra, and tomatoes served in a sourdough bread bowl. Delicious. I absolutely love this.

Price: $9.29

Notes: Seating is extremely limited, just a few little outdoor tables, if you see and open one…grab it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rancho
Ranch del Zocalo
Location: I can’t remember exactly but I feel like it’s by the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Vegan Options: Thank you to my readers  Leonor & Devin who commented and let me know that you can order off-the-menu veggie fajitas or grilled veggie tacos with no cheese or sour cream and they’re vegan!
Price: ? Probably the same as the regular fajitas.
Notes: Thank you Leonore & Devin for commenting!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

CarnationCafe

The Carnation Cafe

Location: Main Street, USA

Vegan Options: Chef’s Vegan Burger, house-made bean and and veggie patty on a whole grain roll served with french fries or fruit.

Price: $11.99

Notes: Thank you Adrianna for commenting and letting me know!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CafeOrleans
Cafe Orleans
Location: The French Quarter by Pirates of the Carribean
Vegan Options: N’awlins Vegetable Ragoût with eggplant, red onions, bell peppers, squash, and zucchini.
Price: $14.99
Notes: Thank you maryw for commenting!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

PizzaPort

Red Rockett’s Pizza Port

Location: In Tomorrowland on your way to Space Mountain

Vegan Options: My reader Danielle let me know that she used to work at Pizza Port and said that the chefs can make an off the menu vegan salad with all the veggies they have on-hand or a vegan pasta…

Price: ? Off the menu

Notes: Thank you Danielle for commenting!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, I present to you the list of absolutely NON-Vegan restaurants. There is absolutely NOTHING here for vegans. Don’t even bother walking through the door:
Explicitly Non-Vegan Restaurants:
Big Thunder Ranch BBQ
Minnie & Friends Character Breakfast
Daisy’s Diner
Golden Horseshoe
Pluto’s Dog House
Stage Door Cafe
Village Hause Restaurant
Tomorrowland Terrace
  1. That was helpful… but Rancho Del Zocalo has vegan options… I eat there myself…just ask for items with no cheese…the fajita veggies are delightful…and a side of avocado is good with it along with the beans and rice…unless they add milk..which I dont think so…but I always get the salad and ask them not to put cheese. =\
    Hungry Bear has a new sandwich…but I dont know if its vegan..I know its vegetarian ..
    I’m a vegetarian and becoming a vegan slowly but surely.
    • Great comment Leonor! Thanks do much, I’ll definitely update this post to show the veggie fajitas option at Ranch Del Zocalo!
      Congratulations on going vegetarian! It’s a big decision and it’s one that should be celebrated!!
      With Mexican and Latin American cuisine, I usually find that whole beans are fine (no animal products) but unfortunately the traditional red rice/”Mexican rice” is usually cooked with chicken stock :<
      I usually just get all beans, no rice. More protein in the beans anyway!
      I'll be looking forward to reading you comments in the future!!
      • Another word of caution at mexican places – a lot of times the tortillas are actually made with lard as well (and almost ALWAYS with hydrogenated oil – it’s vegan but you don’t want it in your system). I do not know if this is the case at Rancho Del Zocalo, but it would be worth asking if you are exploring that option.
        Great post! My wife and I are both vegan and go to disneyland frequently. We did something like you did here for Disney World in Florida some years back. It’s a lot of work but really helps people out! Keep it up
        -Michael
  2. The chef’s at plaza inn and Disney resort say that the gluten free Mickey waffles and pancakes can be made vegan. I put my faith in them being honest.
  3. Thanks for the great post! I found you while planning for my own vacay this weekend. If you go into city hall in Disneyland when you arrive, they will give you a list of all the vegan options available in the park. It’s kept up-to-date and it’s good to request a new one whenever you visit because recipes can change. Additionally, you can call ahead to any sit down restaurant and they will do their best to accomodate you.
    • OMG, great idea!! I had no clue about the Main Street town hall having the down-low on vegan offerrings but I guess they would considering all the food allergies people have these days!! Thank you so much! I hope you are enjoying the blog!
      • I picked up that list in 2008 at the Main Street city hall. They also had a gluten free and kosher list.
        I just returned from Disneyland (Dec. 2012) and unfortunately, they now only have the gluten free list. They had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned a vegetarian/vegan list.
  4. A lot of restaurant chefs will work around special needs, so it is worth going in to these restaurants and asking. The chef at the Blue Bayou made a fantastic pasta dish for me last year that was not on the menu.
  5. Carnation Cafe now has a wait for it….CHEF”S VEGAN BURGER on the menu. The official menu is on the Disneyland Website. It says house made bean and vegetable patty on wholegrain roll. 11.99 comes with fries or fruit.
    • That’s it. I need to go back to Disneyland. Right now. :> Thank you so much Adrianna for letting me know about the VEGAN burger! I can’t tell you how happy this makes me!
    • We were at Disneyland this weekend, noticed this item on the Carnation Cafe menu (via the DLR Lines app from touringplans.com) and went — the burger is ok, filling but kinda bland — seasonal fruit was grapes & strawberries. They also have avocado on the menu, so we added that to the burger. Service is quick for a sit down place, but there aren’t tons of tables so time your visit to minimize waiting — we jumped in during the parade & got right in.
    • I had the Chef’s Vegan Burger and it was awwwesome! And it’s not just a pre-made, big-brand patty. It’s an original burger and it’s great.
  6. For a vegan breakfast, try the steel-cut oatmeal w/ fruit (all made with soy milk; leave off brown sugar crumble topping which has milk) at Jamba Juice at Disneyland Downtown before you enter the park. Delicious! Several choices: apple cinnamon oatmeal, berry cherry pecan oatmeal, blueberry & blackberry oatmeal, fresh banana oatmeal, or plain oatmeal.
    • Great idea Pat! I actually did this myself because we stayed at the Grand Californian right in Downtown Disney! Jamba Juice was my go-to breakfast place! I’m planning on following up my Disneyland & CA Adventure comprehensive guide with a Downtown Disney Vegan guide! I’ll be sure to include Jamba!
      … And thank you for clarifying that the brown sugar crumble contains milk! So helpful!!
  7. Thanks for this guide! Quite a coincidence… I was looking for a vegan guide for Disneyland. I am going there tomorrow…. to celebrate graduating from my MPP program early (one week to go)!
    • OMG! We are twins! I went to Disneyland (in part to celebrate my fiancee’s graduation) but also to celebrate my impending graduation as well… with my MPP!! Yay Public Policy! Congratulations!
  8. This is a great guide thank you so much.
    On July 4th 2011 my cholesterol was 256 and my Dr put me on Pravastatin. My nutritionist said animal protein is cholesterol and I cut back. On March 20, 2012 I went vegan. On June 20th 2012 my overall cholesterol dropped to 153, HDL remained 63 and my LDL dropped to 80 with a mystery 10 non ldl cholesterol in there.
    My family and I love Disneyland and are going in October and I was concerned about my limited options.
    I need to ask a newbie vegan dumb question. Which Luna bar are you referring I went to their website but didn’t see a vegan bar.
    Sun Warrior chocolate protein powder with a 1/4 of a cup of chocolate almond milk tastes great if you can’t get something more substantial. Chocolate almond milk is good in coffee too.
    • Wow! Let me first say congratulations on your vegan health victory!! That is incredible and I’m so happy for you!
      You’re questions about vegan energy bars isn’t stupid at all!! You will be happy to know that ALL the Luna Bars are vegan!!! So don’t be afraid… Try the white chocolate macadamia nut or the iced oatmeal cookie or my personal favorite, the chocolate dipped coconut. The ONLY exception are the Luna Protein brand bars, they’re smaller and say “Protein” on the wrapper. I think those have whey (milk powder). However, normal Luna bars are all vegan.
      Another tip, Clif Bars are all vegan too! Even Clif Builders Bars with 20g of protein!!
      Your question has inspired me! I’ll follow this up with a post/review of vegan protein/breakfast bars on the market! Can’t wait to try the Sunflower one you suggested.
      I hope you have a great time at Disneyland! Thank you for reading! Don’t forget to “follow” !
      • Thank you I look forward to reading more of your website. At the end of this week I am going to stop taking the Pravastatin. On September 21st I have a blood test scheduled so I can monitor the change. It may take 30 days to clear from my system.
  9. We were at Disneyland this weekend (Sept 2012) and happily found that Cafe Orleans has added a vegan option. I had the N’awlins Vegetable Ragoût with eggplant, red onions, bell peppers, squash, and zucchini ($14.99). I ordered it without the cheese topping and the server informed me that there was cheese in the included corn cakes, so you can skip those or take them on the side for any non-vegan companions. I also had a side house salad with baby greens, cherry tomatoes & caramelized pecans (just skip the goat cheese) ($5.49).
    Since table service locations can accommodate most special requests, the entree salad with spinach, mixed greens, pecans, grapes, oranges, grilled onions & corn, offered with chicken or salmon could probably be ordered without the meat.
  10. Great to see a recent Disneyland vegand guide! Thank you! I was just there earlier this year (April 2012) and any guides I found online were pretty dated.
    Are the veggie burgers sold at the Village Hauss and the place by Star Tours (I forget the name) vegan?
    Also, I would like to add that the bread bowl that comes with the vegetarian chilli is NOT vegan. I asked about the chilli possibly having any cheese (I ate at the Royal Street Veranda) and the woman working there asked if I was wondering about the cheese because I’m vegan. When I said yes she told me the bread bowl wasn’t vegan. I forget what exactly made it not vegan but I would double check. The woman said she has a friend who is vegan so she understood the importance of what is in what we eat so I trust her judgement. Plus, I believe she double checked with someone who was working there. What I ended up doing was eating it out of a bowl which is what you can ask them to do. She offered that option luckily, but without the bread bowl the price seems a little steep. BUT the chilli is absolutely delicious!
  11. Actually Rancho Del Zocalo has grilled veggie tacos. Make sure to ask for no cheese or sour cream. I was told the beans and rice are vegetarian friendly, but I’m not sure about being vegan friendly. Also be sure to ask if the guacamole is dairy free.
  12. I used to work at Red Rocket’s Pizza Port. They can custom make your salad with anything in the salad bar, however the only vegan dressing is the Raspberry Vinaigrette. Also, if you talk to a chef, I can almost guarantee that they will make you a vegan plate of pasta; the Terra Nova Tomato Basil is very nearly vegan, it would be simple for them to make you a plate without the pesto mixed in. Whenever a vegan option does not immediately present itself on the menu, just ask to talk to a chef. It’s very rare that they can’t whip something up for you (and it’ll be super fresh!) Also, gluten free pasta is available upon request as well. Disneyland is an amazingly vegan friendly vacation destination, which is one of the reasons why after working there, I still have an annual pass. Also for a snack, the Mickey pretzels are vegan. They are Super Pretzel brand, and are not brushed with butter before being baked. Just no nacho cheese with them: stick to the mustard. 🙂
  13. We always get a veggie burger at the Hungry Bear restaurant and there is plenty of seating. The veggie burger is also available at the Village Haus and Tomorrow land Terrace. Thanks to Danielle for mentioning Red Rocket’s pizza as there are salads and pasta dishes, although I’m not sure what “very nearly vegan” means in the Terra Nova Tomato Basil dish. At Cafe Orleans there are also Pomme Frittes that I think might be vegan. There are definitely vegan options at Rancho del Zocalo as long as you choose only veggies. I was pretty sure their beans were vegan.
  14. So thankfull for this! Heading there for the holiday! I’m also a health coach so this is a great resource for my clients. Thank you for spending your time on this, much appreciated.
    • That’s a good question Darcy! I am not sure if the bun is vegan, I didn’t get to look at any ingredients list. However, I know Disney restaurant employees have a comprehensive “Allergy Guide” which will have ingredients lists for everything. This will be helpful for anyone who has allergies or sensitivities to other foods. Ask to see the allergy list! 🙂
    • I think you’ll always have to ask about the buns. I don’t remember if it was the “special dietary needs” list they used to hand out that stated they do change the buns from time to time, or if it was from an employee. The employees don’t always know, but most will either ask someone else, or bring out the “Allergy Guide” as Lili stated… or, in my case, they brought the packaging for the buns and let me look at the ingredients. One employee simply stated they didn’t know, and I didn’t push it further… but I think that’s the exception, as customer service is usually excellent at Disneyland.
  15. There is a Portobello and Vegetable sandwich with fresh fruit or french fries ($8.19)at Tomorrowland Terrace (Dec 2012). I only asked if there was any dairy. I just didn’t want to deal with the confused looks if I mentioned vegan, or asked too many questions. The worker asked one of the chefs, and they said it would be dairy free if they left out the cheese and sauce. It contained portobello mushroom, zucchini, sauteed onions, tomatoes and greens (arugula?) on a multi-grain bread. Would have been better had the mushrooms, zucchini, & onions been warm. They were taken straight out of the fridge.
  16. Just a heads up – at the River Belle Terrace, the baked beans that come with the Veggie Po’ Boy are made with lard.
  17. Thank you thank you thank you!! I have been trying to get to Disneyland for years, and having become vegan over 3 years ago has made me wary. The more I’m reading (here and other places online) I see that vegans are truly making a stamp in the world, at least at Disney 🙂 I don’t need 100’s of options, but to know that I have a good handful of places I can fall back on (without having to rely on salad and Luna bars….. as yummy as the bars can be!!!) is really nice. Thank you, and for the responses previous to mine – thank you!!
  18. You are a lifesaver. We did alright our last visit as vegetarians, but I was a little worried about finding enough vegan options during our upcoming visit. Now I will have a list in hand. Thank you thank you!
  19. Hey! Rancho del zocalo actually does have vegan options! They have burritos and tacos and you stand there and watch them put whatever you want on it! I always just get rice, beans, and veggies in mine. And it’s vegan!
  20. According to the disneyland webpage about Big Thunder BBQ: Vegetarians can request a barbecue skewer with potatoes, squash, bell peppers, mushrooms and tofu. It might be smart to check before ordering though. The veggie skewers looked pretty good when I saw someone eating them. I’m not vegan personally, but my really good friend is. I’m always keeping an eye out for food she can eat in the parks! Also, I’m pretty sure the Dole Whips are dairy free, just fruit juice, some sugar, water!
  21. My family eats at Tortilla Joe’s in Downtown Disney. They have three vegetarian items. The first two are vegan if you leave out a small bit of cheese. I was told that the last “Chile Rellano” item could also be prepared as vegan. I always opt for the Garden Enchiladas. They are very accommodating. Full bar. Easy connection via monorail from Tomorrowland. Good for kids.
    From their web site:
    Veggie Burrito $15
    Large spinach tortilla filled with vegetarian
    black beans, cilantro green rice and cheese.
    Topped with salsa verde and queso fresco.
    Served with seasonal vegetables, pico de
    gallo, and sour cream
    Garden Enchiladas $15
    Two corn tortillas filled with fresh spinach and
    seasonal vegetables, topped with salsa verde
    and queso fresco. Served with cilantro green
    rice and vegetarian black beans
    Chile Rellano de Lentejas $15
    A poblano chile filled with black lentils, corn,
    red and green bell peppers, red onions and
    white rice. Served with sauteed Mexican
    cebollitas, seasonal vegetables and a cilantro
    cotija pesto
  22. This is a great list, thanks! I go to Disneyland often and they are very good with “food allergies” like you said.
    At fine dining restaurants you can actually call ahead and tell them your food restctions and they will accommodate. The chef will probably come out to your table and you can come up with something together. I have never done this (yet) personally, but from what I’ve heard they are *very* good about it.
    I know this post is about Disneyland, but I’d like to give a shutout to the Wine Country Trattoria in Disney’s California Adventure. The Broccolini Aglio Olio is vegan and super delish plus you can ask for gluten free pasta. There seem to be more vegan options over at DCA anyway.
  23. Just thought I would add that the Guajillo Sauce on the Burrito Sonora at Cocina Cucamonga is NOT vegan. It contains whey.
    Thank you for this blog!!! It’s given us vegans a chance to combine our knowledge and help each other out while vacationing! SO helpful!
  24. Hi! This list is just what I needed for our first time in Disneyland! Just wanted to say that the vegetarian gumbo served at Royal St Veranda (according to the lady who served it to me) is vegan, just not the bread! So we got it without and it’s delicious
  25. This is only a partial list. Many of the restaurants listed as a strictly non-vegan restaurant is actually not true. If you include garden salad, then fries should count. At Minnie and Friends breakfast they offer vegan oatmeal, waffles, and pancakes (Using Bob’s Red Mill), roasted potatoes, fruit, sourdough toast, dry cereal (soy milk upon request), and sometimes have raw veggies. You can also go to the omelet station and just get their vegetables. More than enough food for any vegan, and it’s an all-you-can-eat buffet.
    There are vegan burgers at other locations but they do contain wheat, corn, and soy.
    Chef Oscar at Carnation will make special vegan foods. Ask to speak with him before your meal. Any chef in any restaurant can (and will) make a vegan entree. They have pasta at Cafe Orleans that they’ll cook, and it doesn’t contain eggs.
    The Dole Whip at the Tiki Bar is vegan, so if you want a cold and creamy treat, it is animal-free.
    I’m an annual pass holder and a vegan, so I know how to eat in Disneyland.
  28. This is all GREAT info. Some of there I had not know about before. My husband has eaten at Tomorrow Land Terrace before – he got the Roasted Portobello and Vegetable sandwich -[ Served cold with portobello mushrooms, peppers, zucchini, onions, provolone and Basil aioli on a multi grain bread – $8.19 ( GET WITHOUT provolone & AIOLI – ( ask if its made with oil only & no eggs) ]
    At Pizza Port – Asian Salad (minus the chicken).
    Also I didn’t see it listed above yet – but at the Tiki Tiki Room – the Dole Whip is completely vegan!!!! So you can get your pineapple float or cone!
  29. thank you so much for this list! I’m going to Disneyland today with my boyfriend and he said we are definitely going to eat at blue bayou. I’m relieved to know about that portobello dish. Sounds delicious!
    My boyfriend tells me something about a tortilla factory at Disneyland. I don’t know, I’ll check it out when I’m there. My boyfriend and I always celebrate taco Tuesday ^.^
  30. Thank you thank you thank you. My husband and I are doing a vegan fast and we’re here at Disneyland with our kids. This helped us decided where to eat where we can all enjoy….and saved us time from having to search door to door. Bless you bunches for doing this. Carnation Cafe it is.
    1 big happy family!
  31. I was at Disneyland last night and was told that the bread bowls at the royal street veranda are not vegan :/ I was bummed to say the least.
    I ended up with the veggie skewers from the Bengal bbq and was told for future reference all the veggie burgers in the park are vegetarian, not vegan. Except for the (actually titled) vegan burger at carnation, I haven’t tried it yet but so many of the options I thought were vegan were not 😦
  32. At Ranch del Zocalo, they do not use any lard in their refried beans or rice, so these are both vegan as well!! ❤️ Disneyland for taking care of my protein needs!
  33. Hello!
    I just wanted to point out that Village Haus does indeed have a vegan option: a great veggie burger! I have read the book of ingredients myself and saw there is absolutely no dairy and eggs. It is actually nut-free as well.
    You have a great list here though! I will definitely be trying out that gumbo though! 🙂
    ~Nora
  34. Thank you so much for this! My daughter has been vegan for just over a year. We are flying from Canada for a Disneyland adventure in November and I have been worrying about finding any options at all for her (beyond meal replacement bars and fresh fruit!) This will be a go-to resource for us.
